The analysis of tropical and subtropical plants cultivated in the winter garden at the given institution made it possible to identify the species range used in floristry as staffage. According to the results of the latest inventory (November 2017), the total collection fund of the winter garden includes 151 species (including cultivars and forms) from 38 families. Staffage cultures are represented by 14 families, 32 genera and 53 species. The largest number of species is included into Araceae family – 12 representatives. The families Asparagaceae and Commelinaceae include 7 species, Arecaceae and Moraceae – 6 species (cultivars and forms) and Pteridaceae family – 5 species. The species are resistant under cultivation conditions and was recommended for cultivation in protected soil with similar microclimatic conditions.
