The collection of Iris × hybridа growing at the Botanical Garden in Almaty consists of 70 cultivars. It is based on tall bearded irises – 57,1 %, 25,8 % is presented by dwarf bearded irises; the lowest number – 17,1 % is presented by intermediate bearded irises. А purpose of this research is a comparative study of 12 dwarf bearded cultivars of Iris × hybridа in the conditions of South East Kazakhstan. Different levels of their adaptation in the introduction region are revealed. High degree of adaption belongs to the early-flowering cultivars – ‘Bossa Svetlana’, ‘Cherry Garden’ and med-flowering – ‘Captive Sun’, ‘Death By Chocolate’, and ‘Serendipity Elf’. They form the bushes corresponding to the international standard, with the diameter of flowers 7,0 cm and flowering period for 10–14 days. Among them ‘Death By Chocolate’ and ‘Serendipity Elf’ have fragrant flowers, which increases their perspectivity for use in flowerbed.
