The paper presents hybridological analysis of seedlings obtained from 15 cross combinations of freesia which is collected in the FSBSI “Russian Research Institute of Floriculture and Subtropical Crops”. According to the results, 46.7 % of the seedlings fully inherited the flower shape of a male plant, while female flower shape was inherited by 100 % in combination ‘Yubileynaya’ × ‘Streipt Perl’. Another flower shape was obtained from the seedlings combinations: ‘Vesna’ × ‘Mechta’, ‘Georgiy Pobedonosets’ × ‘Angel’, ‘Athene’ × ‘Angel’, ‘Angel’ × ‘Athene’. 73.3 % received a different flower colour compared to the parent forms, from 13 till 100 % to the total number of seedlings. Particularly large variety among colors (90 % or more) was obtained in combinations: ‘Angel’ × ‘Palmyra’, ‘Palmyra’ × ‘Angel’, ‘Yubileynaya’ × ‘Mechta’, ‘Yubileynaya’ × ‘Angel’, ‘Angel’ × ‘Athene’. Based on the evidence found, the conclusion is made about the way the offspring inherits decorative features from parental forms, the power of seedlings variability and the possibility to obtain new forms with specified characteristics.
