The Botanical Garden (belonging to Komi Institute of Biology of the Research Centre, Ural Division of the Russian Science Academy) has created a collection of herbaceous perennials growing in open ground and consisting of 10 generic complexes: Allium, Astilbe, Hemerocallis, Iris, Lilium, Narcissus, Paeonia, Phlox, Tulipa and Primula. The introduction of species, specimens and cultivars of flowering herbaceous perennials was carried out by attracting seed and planting material from the botanical institutions in Russia and abroad. The adaptive capabilities of plants were researched, and as a result the most adapted plants distinguished by outstanding decorative qualities in each genus were identified. It is shown that species and cultivars of Hemerocallis, Allium, Astilbe, Iris and Narcissus genera are promising for cultivation in the conditions of North.
