The paper analyzed the results of Syringa L. genus introduction on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus and in the nearby introduced areas. The genus Syringa is considered in the modern interpretation of taxonomists, including 13 natural species, 8 subspecies and 10 hybrids. In the South of Russia, 23 of the 31 taxa of the species and subspecies level were tested. There are 14 among them in the humid subtropical zone of Russia. The adaptive potential of the genus was evaluated according to the comprehensive analysis of the species geographical origin, as well as their phylogenetic relationships and acclimatization indicators of individual representatives. Further introduction testing of lilacs in the zone of humid subtropics should be aimed at zoning the cultivars, as well as at conducting research on inter-generational rootstock-graft combinations and grafting methods in order to overcome the adverse soil factor. For limited use and further introduction and breeding studies, preference should be given to Syringa × chinensis Willd., S. josikaea J. Jacq. ex Rchb.f., S. pinetorum W.W. Sm., S. vulgaris L.
