The paper describes the learning-by-doing approach based on bioresources collections. It reveals the abilities for using the plant collections in the educational process of the agrarian profile students. The skills development through interactive learning and design activities in teaching the floriculture are considered. This form of training provides students with the acquisition of skills of the independent solution in scientific and practical tasks, instilling in students the necessity to creation, to self-education, to the continuous improvement of the knowledge, formation of creative professional thinking skills. The efficiency of organized cooperation was discussed.
