The paper describes a 70-year-long experience of lianas introduction in the Research Institute of Siberian Horticulture named after M. A. Lisavenko, located in the foreststeppe zone of Altai region, South-Eastern part of Western Siberia. 40 species and84 cultivars belonging to 13 genera of 10 families were tested. Data on winter hardiness, height, ability to blooming and fruiting in 35 species and 34 cultivars are represented. The height was estimated from 0.6–1 to 12–20 m. 30 species were recommended for vertical landscaping as an additional assortment. As limited assortment only for private gardens – there were recommended 3 species and 3 cultivars of Actinidia, 15 cultivars of Celastrus, which require additional shelter for the winter, as well as Calystegia pubescens ‘Flore Plena’ because of its low drought resistance. Less perspective are: Celastrus orbiculata Thunb., Actinidia giraldii Diels and Vitis rupestris Scheele.
